Men's Cross Country Sixth at Drews/Neubauer Invite

WEST SALEM, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The No. 19-ranked UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team raced its way to a sixth place finish out of 28 teams at the Jim Drews Race hosted by UW-La Crosse this afternoon.

An average time of 25:38.4 from the top five Blugold runners was good enough to push the team into the sixth place spot with a score of 183. The University of Minnesota B Team paced the field by recording an average time of 24:53.6. Two UW schools – UW-La Crosse and UW-Platteville – rounded out the top three.

As he has at the Blugolds' last two events, Tom Breitbach (Sr.-Muskego, Wis.) recorded the team's best finish, running a 25:10.0 to nab 15th place overall. Aric Runzheimer (So.-Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) and Max Renner (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./East) finished just seconds apart at 25:31.6 and 25:34.3 for 31st and 35th places, respectively. Aaron Easker (So.-Eland, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood ) recorded a time of 25:53.0 for 52nd and Matt Scott (Fr.-Kiel, Wis.) clinched 69th place with a time of 26:02.9.

Next Friday the Blugolds will host the Lake Wissota Invite. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
