Men's Tennis Falls to Division II St. Cloud State

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing at home, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team fell short to NCAA Division II opponent St. Cloud State University (Minn.) 7-2 today.

Results

Eau Claire had one doubles victory and one singles victory.

Will Weyenberg (Fr.-Neenah, Wis.), competing at No. 5 singles, picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win. At No. 1 singles, Ryan Vande Linde (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) nearly came from behind to win but fell just short. He lost the first set 6-4, then won the second set 6-4, before falling 11-9 in the super tiebreaker.

In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Vande Linde and Joe Meier (Sr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) came away with an 8-3 victory.

Eau Claire is now 12-6 this season while St. Cloud State improves to 11-10.

The Blugolds will be on the road next weekend for three more contests. They will face Luther College (Iowa) in Winona, Minn. on Friday and will play the University of Dubuque (Iowa) and Edgewood College in Madison on Sunday.
