Men's Tennis Picks up Three Home Wins

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing at home three times this weekend, the UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team defeated three opponents, dropping just one match, on the Olson Indoor Courts at UW-Eau Claire.

The Blugolds opened the weekend with a 9-0 win Friday night over St. Norbert College. They followed with a 9-0 victory over Loras College (Iowa) Saturday morning and closed the weekend with an 8-1 win over MSOE Saturday afternoon.

The lone match the Blugolds lost was at No. 1 singles against MSOE, and it was close as Ryan Vande Linde (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) fell 1-6, 7-6, 10-7. He won his first two matches this weekend in straight sets, however.

While the Blugolds won the rest of the matches, Nathan Tretsven (So.-North St. Paul, Minn.) and Will Weyenberg (Fr.-Neenah, Wis.) had the largest margin of victory in singles this weekend, both winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, facing Loras.

The No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams also won with 8-0 margins against Loras.

Eau Claire is now 5-3 on the season.

The Blugolds will have next weekend off and will next play against Elmhurst College (Ill.) and Carthage College in Racine, March 7 and 8.
