Women's Cross Country Earns Top-Five Finish at Drews/Neubauer Invite

WEST SALEM, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The No. 8-ranked UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team notched another top-five finish after earning fifth place out of the 27 teams competing at the Tori Neubauer Race hosted by UW-La Crosse.

The Blugolds earned a score of 129 today and recorded an average finishing time of 22:18.0. North Dakota State took first place honors with an average time of 22:07.7 while the University of Minnesota B team and Luther College (Iowa) took second and third, respectively.

Two Blugolds finished inside the top 15 runners. Elly Prunty (Sr.-Antigo, Wis.) blazed the trail for Eau Claire with a time of 21:38.0 for fourth place and Alyssa Sybilrud (Jr.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville) crossed the line 11th with a time of 21:57.1. Margaret Ho (Sr.-Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) and Ashlyn Mauer (So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) earned respective 46th and 84th place finishes with times of 22:33.6 and 22:36.5. Beth Easker (Sr.-Wittenberg, Wis./Wittenberg-Birnamwood) rounded out the top five for the team by finishing in 22:44.8 for 129th overall.

The Blugolds next hit the trails this Friday for their own Lake Wissota Invite. The women's race is set to begin at 4 p.m.
