Women's Cross Country Takes Fourth at Luther All-American

DECORAH, Iowa (Blugolds.com) - The No. 1 ranked UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team raced its way to a fourth place finish at today's 10-team Luther All-American 5K Invite hosted by Luther College.

The Blugolds finished with an average time of 19:54, earning the team a total of 116 points. Luther College won its home event with 36 points and an average time of 19:31.

Individually, Grand View University's (Iowa)Obsie Birru set a blazing pace of 18:15, beating the field by nearly a minute. Kacey Rindy (Jr.-Fennimore, Wis.) led Eau Claire with a time of 19:40, which was good for 15th place. Shelby Berning (So.-Chetek, Wis.) ran a 19:50 for 21st place while Charissa Drake (Jr.-Orfordville, Wis./Parkview) and Victoria Janasz (Fr.-Elk River, Minn.) earned 25th and 27th places, respectively, with a time of 19:56.

Next up, the Blugolds will compete in the St. Mary's Invitational on Friday in Winona, Minn. The women's race is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
