Women's Cross Country Second at Home Invite

COLFAX, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The No. 8 ranked UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team raced its way to second place out of 16 teams at this afternoon's Blugold Open at the Whitetail Golf Course.

Eau Claire finished the event with an average time of 22:41 which earned them 49 points. The University of Minnesota, an NCAA Division I team, won the competition by earning just 30 points with an average time of 22:35.

WIAC athlete of the week Alyssa Sybilrud (Jr.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville) led the way for the Blugolds with a second place, 21:50 overall finish. Crossing the line fifth and ninth were Elly Prunty (Sr.-Antigo, Wis.) and Margaret Ho (Sr.-Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln), who ran times of 22:18 and 22:46, respectively.

Molly Woodford (Sr.-Waukesha, Wis./South) completed the race in 23:06 for 16th place, while Maria Peloquin (Sr.-Prescott, Wis.) rounded out the top five Blugold runners by grabbing 27th place and recording a 23:23 finish.

The Blugolds have off until Oct. 16 when they will participate in the Drews/Neubauer Invite hosted by UW-La Crosse. The event is set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
