Blugolds Fly Past Pipers on the road

ST. PAUL, Minn. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team was back on the road Friday evening for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual with Hamline University. The Blugolds had ten athletes finish the evening with top-3 finishes leading them to a 184.95-182.475 victory.

Results

Harriet Toth (So. – Regina, SK/Martin) and Tia Ravara (Jr. – San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) started the night off strong with two top-3 performances on the uneven parallel bars. Toth shared the top spot on the bars with Hamline's Brianna Weikel as both athletes posted 9.3's. Ravara placed third with a 9.225 as UWEC earned a 45.200 as a team.

Haiven Gipson (Fr. – Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) led the way for Eau Claire on the vault with a 9.600 to earn a first-place finish. Harriet Toth continued to shine as she earned a 2nd place finish with a 9.400. Andrea O'Connell (So. – Blue Mounds, Wis./Mount Horeb) added to the Blugolds team score of 46.375 on the vault with a 4th place finish and a 9.250.

O'Connell, Emma Barry (Sr. – Allen Park, Mich.), and Molly Campbell (Fr. – Lincoln, Neb./Northeast) posted the top scores on the floor for UW-Eau Claire. Andrea placed 4th with a 9.450, Barry earned 5th with a 9.400, and Campbell posted a 9.375 for a 6th place finish.

To wrap up the night, Georgia Guynn (Fr. – Dallas, Texas/Plano East), Christina Leikam (Sr. – Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail), and Liliana Shank (Sr. – Elkhart, Ind./Concord) grabbed the top two spots on the balance beam as the Blugolds sealed their victory with a 46.852 beam score. Guynn took home top honors with a first-place finish and a 9.575 score. Leikam and Shank were close behind as they tied for second with a pair of 9.450's. Campbell rounded out the top-4 with a 9.300.

The Blugolds will hit the road again on Friday, February 24th when they travel to UW-Oshkosh for another WIAC dual. The firs rotation is scheduled for 6:00pm.
