Gymnastics Sets Beam Program Record at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team was on the road Saturday for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual against UW-Whitewater. The Blugolds set a program record on the beam with three personal records and a team score of 47.850.

Results

The Blugolds held their own all day as they earned their fourth best score of the season. Haiven Gipson (Fr. – Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) led the way for UWEC on the vault with a 5th place finish and a 9.500. Kelsey Donovan (Jr. – Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) recorded a personal best 9.375 and a tie for 7th place to add to Eau Claire's team score of 46.650.

During the final rotation of the night, Eau Claire put on a show with three personal records and a program record score of 47.850. Tia Ravara (Jr. – San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) took first with a season high 9.725. Liliana Shank (Sr. – Elkhart, Ind./Concord) and Georgia Guynn (Fr. – Dallas, Texas/Plano East) tied for second with their personal best scores of 9.675. The previous program record (47.775) was set in January 2017.

To round out the evening, Harriet Toth (So. – Regina, SK/Martin) took the overall top score amongst all-arounders with a 37.400. Tia Ravara had the next highest with a 36.725 and Molly Campbell took third with a 36.350.

The Blugolds will return home for their final home dual of the season on Friday, February 10th when they face UW-La Crosse. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6PM.
