Gymnastics Names Team Award Winners

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire gymnastics head coach Jean DeLisle has announced the team award winners for the 2011-12 season.

For the second straight season, Olivia Aschenbrenner (So.-Cedarburg, Wis./Grafton) was presented with the team's most valuable performer award. She competed in nine meets this year and finished with All-American honors twice after taking seventh in the all-around and eighth on the uneven bars at nationals. Aschenbrenner recorded career-high marks of 9.325 on the vault and 9.300 on the uneven bars on Feb. 12 at the UW-Whitewater Triangular.

The most improved award went to Molly Novorolsky (So.-Elburn, Ill./St. Charles North). She competed at five meets this year after competing only once a season ago. Novorolsky participated in exhibition four times this year and finished the year with an 8.375 on the uneven bars at nationals.

RachelAnn Anderson (So.-Maple Grove, Minn.) earned the team's most spirited award for the second consecutive year. Competing in nine meets this year, Anderson captured career-best marks on both the balance beam and in the floor exercise. At nationals, she scored a career-high 9.150 on the balance beam.

Selected as the team's most dedicated was Rachel Behmer (Jr.-Maple Grove, Minn./West Lutheran). She competed on the uneven bars nine times this season and had a season-high of 9.250 at the UW-Eau Claire Invite on Jan. 13.

Named captains for next season were Danielle Schulzetenberg (Jr.-Maple Grove, Minn.), Karla Hagen (So.-Chaseburg, Wis./Viroqua) and Anderson.
