LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team finished in fourth place out of five teams at the 31st Annual Gershon/McLellan Invitational, hosted by UW-La Crosse at Mitchell Hall tonight.
UW-La Crosse won the competition with a score of 184.425 while Winona State University (Minn.) took second with 181.600 and UW-Stout was third with 180.175. The Blugolds came in with 175.875 while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) came in last with 171.650.
RachelAnn Anderson (So.-Maple Grove, Minn.) had the Blugolds' top finish of the night as she tied for third place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.150.
On the vault, Ashley Relopez (Jr.-New Hope, Minn./Armstrong) had the Blugolds' best finish, tying for seventh with a career-high of 9.275.
Olivia Aschenbrenner (So.-Cedarburg, Wis./Grafton) had the Blugolds top finish on the uneven bars, scoring an 8.975 to tie for eighth place. She was also seventh in the all-around competition with a score of 35.775.
On the balance beam, Michaela McCamey (So.-Dayton, Ohio) led the Blugolds with a score of 9.175 to finish in 12th place.
On Sunday, Feb. 12, the Blugolds will be at UW-Whitewater for a triangular with the Warhawks and UW-Stout. Action will get underway at 2 p.m.
