NORMAL, Ill. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the spring with a fifth-place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational on Saturday. The Blugolds finished 24 over par as a team at the two-day tournament.
Cole Jahnke (Sr. - Stillwater, Minn.) surged into a runner-up finish individually with a standout second round. He shot a 69 on the final day of play to rise 11 spots up the leaderboard and take second. He finished four strokes behind the champion. He finished even par for the tournament.
Carson Brock (Jr. - Onalaska, Wis./Holmen) tied for 13th at five over par. He shot a 77 on Saturday. Nick Amtmann (So. - Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) tied for 28th at eight over par. He closed out the tournament with a 76 in the final round.
Corey Boerner (Jr. - Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) tied for 71st at 12 over par. He shot a 78 on the tournament's final day. Connor Brown (Sr. - Racine, Wis./Union) finished in a tie for 105th at 15 over par. He carded a 77 on Saturday.
The Blugolds are back in action on Monday, April 10, at the Schoals Intercollegiate. The tournament tees off at 8 a.m. in Florence, Ala.
