Blugolds in 3rd after first spring round

NORMAL, Ill. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team sits in third place at the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational after Friday's opening round. Playing in their first tournament of the spring, the Blugolds shot a collective 297 and enter the final round just 10 strokes behind the leader.

Results

UW-Eau Claire is nine over par as a team. Carson Brock (Jr. - Onalaska, Wis./Holmen) led the way by carding a 71, good for one under par. He enters the final round in a tie for third place and is three strokes behind the co-leaders.

Cole Jahnke (Sr. - Stillwater, Minn.) is tied for 13th after shooting a 74 and is two over par. Nick Amtmann (So. - Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) is tied for 18th after scoring a 75. Corey Boerner (Jr. - Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) is tied for 53rd at 77, and Connor Brown (Sr. - Racine, Wis./Union) is tied for 124th at 81.

The second round tees off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 8. The hosts are the leaders on the team leaderboard at one under par, and Aurora University is in second at eight over par.
