Winneconne, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's cross country team raced at the KollegeTown Invitational held at the Lake Breeze Golf Course on Saturday, October 19. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh hosted the meet. The Blugolds scored 246 points, placing 8th out of 34 teams. North Central College won the invitational, scoring 46 points.
The temperature was excellent for racing and the course itself was in excellent shape except for a few soft spots. The Blugolds felt prepared for the race because they had been training in similar conditions.
Connor Dolan (Jr. – Nekoosa,WI/Assumption) crossed the finish line first for the Blugolds. Dolan finished in 23rd place with a time of 25:34.3. Tyler Osen (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/Lakeville North) was the next teammate to finish. Osen placed 35th with a time of 25:41.8.
Blugolds 3 and 4 were Alex Winn (Sr. – Kingston, WA) and Chad Couser (Jr. – Rochester, MN/Rochester Mayo). Winn finished 51st with a time of 25:59.9. Couser placed 68th with a time of 26:29.9.
Brett Haffner (So. – Darien, IL/Hinsdale South) rounded out the top 5 for the men's team. Haffner placed 69th with a time of 26:30.0. Right behind Haffner was Zach Yengo (So. – Eau Claire, WI/Eau Claire Regis). Yengo finished 70th with a time of 26:30.4. Jace Bartz (So. – White Bear Lake, MN) was the 7th Blugold to finish the race. Bartz placed 71st and ran a time of 26:32.3.
The men's team will be back in action Friday, October 25 at the City Wells Invite. The Blugolds will host the meet at the Eau Claire City Well Fields.
