No. 19-ranked Blugold Women Take 3rd at St. Olaf Invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The No. 19-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's cross country team competed at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, finishing fourth out of 20 teams with 111 points.

The very competitive field included the University of Minnesota-Duluth, currently ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division II National rankings and Carleton College, currently No. 13 in the NCAA Division III National rankings.  Duluth won the meet with 50 points, Carleton College was second with 72 points and St. Olaf edged out the Blugolds to finish third with 104 points.

Lucy Ramquist (Sr.-River Falls, WI)--who set three school records in track last spring (Indoor Mile – 4:57, Indoor 3K – 9:49 and Outdoor 5K – 16:46)—continued to race strong placing third of 294 runners covering the 6K in 22:13.  Clara Williamson (Sr.-Skokie, Ill./Niles North) also had a great day finishing second for the Blugolds and 12th overall with a time of 23:04, which is a 45-second improvement from the same meet one year ago. 

Rounding out the top five scorers for UW-Eau Claire were freshmen Emily Jaeger (Fall Creek, WI) and, seniors Kelsey Jaeger (Waukesha, WI/West) and Katryna Williams (Watertown, WI) who ran together nearly the entire race placing 31st, 32nd and 33rd in 23:54, 23:56 and 23:58, respectively.  The Blugold women displayed great depth in Saturday's race placing 13 runners in the top 50 with the next best team placing eight in the top 50 (St. Olaf).

The women will take this upcoming weekend off from competition in preparation for the Blugold Invitational on Friday, October 2nd at Whitetail Golf Course near Colfax, WI.
