Three Blugold Volleyball Players Honored by WIAC

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Three UW-Eau Claire volleyball players have been honored by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with the announcement of the All-WIAC team today.

Named to the All-WIAC team were Kelly Schuh (Sr.-Appleton, Wis./Hortonville) and Lauren Sutherland (Sr.-Dayton, Minn./Meadow Creek Christian) while Sutherland was also selected to the All-Defensive team. Additionally, Alexis Wong (Jr.-Maple Grove, Minn.) was picked to the All-Sportsmanship Team, which was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school.

Playing in all 34 matches and a total of 113 sets, Schuh leads the Blugolds and WIAC in kills with 407 total, 3.60 per set. She is third on the team and 10th in the conference with 0.30 service aces per set for a total of 34, and is second on the team and 12th in the conference with 3.05 digs per set for a total of 345. In her career, she has 3,186 total attack attempts, fifth most in school history, while she has 1,079 kills, 10th most in school history.

Sutherland, who has played in all 34 matches with 114 sets, leads the Blugolds with 595 digs (5.22 per set), which ranks second best in the WIAC. She is also second on the team this season with 37 service aces (0.32 per set), fifth best in the conference. In her career, she has 1,729 digs, third most in school history.

Wong leads the Blugolds and is third in the conference, averaging 0.37 service aces per set (38 total). She is also second on the team and 20th in the WIAC with a .211 hitting percentage (193 kills, 73 errors, 568 attempts). Wong has played in 104 sets and 31 matches so far this year.
