The Blugolds enter the semifinals on a six-match winning streak. They are 20-14 on the season and beat UW-Whitewater 3-1 on Oct. 25, the match that started their winning streak. It was the Blugolds' first WIAC win over the Warhawks since 2005, though the Blugolds beat Whitewater in the semifinals of the WIAC Championship 3-1 last season.

Last year, the Blugolds won the WIAC Championship, which was also contested in Stevens Point, for the first time in history. They beat UW-Stout 3-1 in round one, UW-Whitewater 3-1 in the semifinals and UW-Stevens Point 3-0 in the championship. The Blugolds hold a 32-29 record all-time in the WIAC Championship.

In the other semifinal, UW-La Crosse will take on UW-Stevens Point following the Blugolds' match with the Warhawks. Friday's winners will face each other at 2:30 p.m. in the championship match and the winner will automatically qualify for the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship. Friday's losers will play a third-place match at noon Saturday.
