LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field 4 x 100-meter relay team earned a first place finish in record-setting fashion at the UW-La Crosse Qualifier hosted here today at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
The relay team of Kelsey Worachek (Fr.-Appleton, WI/Xavier), Brooke Patterson (Sr.-Sussex, WI/Sussex-Hamilton) Lindsey Laufenberg (Sr.-Waunakee, WI) and Carly Fehler (Sr.-Oak Creek, WI) won the 4 x 100-meter relay with a new school record time of 46.19 seconds. The time broke the previous record of 46.35 seconds set by Worachek, Jessie Reineck (Jr.-Greenville, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran), Laufenberg and Fehler set on May 2, 2015 at the WIAC Championships. The time is also the fastest time ran in NCAA Division III this season.
Reineck competed in the 400-meter dash finishing in a season-best time of 56.17 seconds. Jessica Rupnow (Jr.-Sussex, WI/Sussex-Hamilton) finished right behind Reineck earning a fourth place finish with a time of 57.18 seconds.
Sarah Glidden (So.-Greenville, WI/Hortonville) finished third in the 200-meter dash completing the race in 25.29 seconds. Laufenberg earned a fourth place finish in the 200 with a time of 25.33 seconds.
Kayla Kelsey (Sr.-Sparta, WI) advanced to the finals of the 100-meter dash where she finished fourth clocking in at 12.43 seconds.
Julia Stedman (Jr.-Maplewood, MN/North St. Paul) finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 37-7.25 (11.46 meters). Kara Metzger (Jr.-Waukesha, WI/South) took home a fourth place finish in the pole vault clearing 11-1 (3.38 meters).
Up next for the Blugolds will be the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held in Canton, New York which will run from May 21-23.
