Ramquist Shatters School Record at UW-Platteville Invitational

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugold.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's track and field team earned 11 top-five finishes, nine individual and two relays, at the UW-Platteville Invitational hosted at the UW-Platteville Track and Field Complex.

Lucy Ramquist (Sr.-River Falls, WI) competed in the 5,000-meter run on Friday evening and finishes second among NCAA Division III competitors with a time of 16:46.62.  Her time is currently the second-fastest time nationally in the event, just .48 seconds off the top time of 16:46.14 set by Laura Mead of UW-La Crosse in the same race.  Ramquist's time broke the 21-year old school record of 17:08.6 set by Karen Schroenrock on April 7, 1984.

Carly Fehler (Sr.-Oak Creek, WI) recorded the second-fastest time in the semifinals of the 100-meter dash clocking in at 11.86 seconds.  It took the fastest time posted in all of NCAA Division III this year of 11.84 seconds run by Meg Heafy of UW-La Crosse to top Fehler.

Jessie Reineck (Jr.-Greenville, WI/Fox Valley Lutheran) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.82 seconds.  Reineck won the event by .47 seconds.  Her time currently ranks 22nd nationally in all of NCAA Division III.  Teammate Jessica Rupnow (Jr.-Sussex, WI/Sussex-Hamilton) earned a third place finish in the 400 completing the race in 58.31 seconds.

Kelsey Worachek (Fr.-Appleton, WI/Xavier) recorded the fourth-fastest time in the 100-meter dash semifinals of 12.35 seconds.  Lindsey Laufenberg (Sr.-Waunakee, WI) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.91 seconds.

In the field events Marina Eggen (Jr.-Greenville, WI/Hortonville) placed second in the long jump with a leap of 18-2.5 feet (5.55 meters) which currently ranks 10th in the nation.  Sam Anderson (Jr.-Forest Lake, MN) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 164-6 feet (50.13 meters).  Anderson ranks 18th nationally with her effort on Saturday in the hammer throw.

Eau Claire placed two teams in the top four in the 4 x 400-meter relay.  The team of Brooke Patterson (Sr.-Sussex, WI/Susses-Hamilton), Rupnow, Sarah Glidden (So.-Greenville, WI/Hortonville) and Fehler finished second with the seventh-fastest time in the nation of 3:53.75.  Calla Karl (Sr.-Fredreric, WI), Laufenberg, Kayla Kelsey (Sr.-Sparta, WI) and Kim Drewiske (Sr.-Green Bay, WI/Preble) placed fourth in the 4 x 400 with a time of 3:58.99.

The Blugolds return to the track this Thursday and Friday (April 16-17) where they will compete in the Phil Esten Multi and Challenge in La Crosse, WI.  Action is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
