STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Six different events had UW-Eau Claire athletes on top of the results as the Blugold women's indoor track & field team captured the Eastbay Pointer Invitational championship on the campus of UW-Stevens Point.
Eau Claire just outdistanced itself from second-place UW-Oshkosh by a score of 147.33 to 146.
Carly Fehler (Jr.-Oak Creek, Wis.) snagged a double-victory on the day by sweeping the sprint events. She claimed the 60-meter dash in 7.81 seconds while winning the 200-meter dash in 25.68 seconds.
The Blugolds also swept both the mid-distance events, as Steph Rouse (Jr.-Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) won the 800-meter run in 2:17.78 and Emily Larranaga (Fr.-Chanhassen, Minn.) won the mile in 5:29.08.
Eau Claire took home a pair of relay victories, as the 4x200-meter team, consisting of Brooke Patterson (Jr.-Sussex, Wis./Hamilton), Kayla Kelsey (Jr.-Sparta, Wis.), Lindsey Laufenberg (Jr.-Waunakee, Wis.) and Megan Mulligan (Jr.-Lake Geneva/Badger), won in 1:43.43 while the 4x400-meter team of Patterson, Sarah Glidden (Fr.-Hortonville, Wis.), Mulligan and Jessica Rupnow (So.-Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) won in 3:57.27.
Up next for the Blugolds is the WIAC Championship starting next Friday at UW-Whitewater. Competition is set to get underway Friday at 11:30 a.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.
