CHICAGO, Ill. (blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's diving teams competed at the University of Illinois Chicago Diving Invite on Saturday at Flames Natatorium. The Blugolds secured some top-10 finishes against Division I competition.
Quincy Kabe (Jr. - Buffalo, Minn.) was the top finisher for the Blugolds. He placed seventh in both the one- and three-meter competitions. He registered a score of 265.55 in the three-meter competition and 260.00 on the one-meter board. Martin Kocher (Sr. - St. Paul, Minn./Johnson) placed eighth in the three-meter, scoring a 259.15. Kocher was 11th in the one-meter competition. Ben Koller (Jr. - Savage, Minn./Shakopee) placed 10th with a 252.55 on the three-meter board and took 12th on the one-meter.
Sarah Dahlk (Sr. - Verona, Wis./Middleton) led the Blugold women in both individual competitions. She took 16th on the one-meter with a 211.30 and 18th on the three-meter with a 198.55. Zibby Hanifl (So. - Northfield, Minn.) also finished in the top 20 in each competition, taking 17th in the one-meter and 19th in the three-meter.
The invite also featured team events. The Blugold men placed third with a score of 275.95. The women entered two teams and placed third and fourth.
The Blugolds are now set to begin the postseason with the WIAC Championships next week. The championships, held in Brown Deer, begin Feb. 15 and continue through Feb. 18.
