Lickel Named to Academic All-District Team

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's swimmer Kirsten Lickel (Jr.-Madison, Wis./East) has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Five College Division At-Large First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the organization announced today.

Lickel is a business administration and mass communications major with a 3.80 grade point average.

She was part of the Blugolds' 800-yard freestyle team that won a WIAC title at this year's conference championships. She also competed in six events at nationals and won All-American honors twice, breaking two school records in the process.

In program archives, she holds as total of five school records, setting four of them this season. Named the team's most versatile swimmer at this year's awards banquet, she also served as team captain this season and was selected to serve as a team captain again next year. 

The Academic All‐District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two‐year schools.
