ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team earned their third win of the season on Sunday, defeating the College of Saint Benedict 2-0.

UW-Eau Claire controlled the ball much of the first half, and had eight shots – including five on net – in the first half alone. Two of those shots went in and turned out to be the different in the game. Emily Sullivan (Jr. – Medina, MN/Wayzata) scored at the 9:56 mark after sending the ball in on a long kick from outside the box over the goalie's left shoulder.
The Blugolds' second goal of the game came five minutes later on a corner kick from Monica Zoellner (Sr. – East Troy, WI) to Maddie Ames (So. – Shakopee, MN) to make it 2-0 not even midway through the first half.
Saint Benedict appeared to cut the gap to one in the final five minutes of the first half when they got the rebound and tapped the ball in net, but were called for offsides and Eau Claire's 2-0 lead stood going into halftime.
CSB picked up their offensive attack in the second half, but the Blugold defense would step up to the challenge to maintain the shut-out.
Both teams finished with 10 shots, and Saint Benedict held a 6-5 edge in shots on net. Sammy Lefaive (Sr. – Coon Rapids, MN) finished with six saves in the win.
