EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team hosted their first home dual of the season on Wednesday night. The Blugolds fell to 16th-ranked UW-Whitewater, 31-16.
Competing for the first time in Zorn Arena, the Blugolds earned three victories on the night, two of which coming by falls. Thomas Severson (Fr. – Marathon, WI/D.C. Everest) took down Whitewater's Blake Huffmon at 2:54 to earn a win at 133 pounds while David Dudych (So. – West Dundee, IL/Harry D. Jacobs) tallied a quick pin over Warhawk Bernard Casella (0:44) at 149.
Austen Hakes (So. – River Falls, WI) also recorded points for the Blugolds, winning by major decision over Ian Ruble, 16-2.
