Mat Rieckhoff Named NWCA Scholar All-American

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – For the second year in a row, UW-Eau Claire wrestler Mat Rieckhoff (Jr.-Wausau, Wis./D.C. Everest) has been named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American.

Rieckhoff, an elementary education major, competed at 184 pounds this season. He took third at the NCAA West Regional this season and was one of two Blugolds to compete at the national championship. Rieckhoff completed the season with a 26-15 record.

To be a scholar all-American, wrestlers must have placed in the top 6 at the NCAA Regional and have a GPA over the previous two semesters or cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. They also are eligible if they had a winning percentage of 67 percent but did not place in the Top 6 at regionals.
