Jon Ames to Serve as Interim Head Wrestling Coach

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Jon Ames will serve as the interim head coach for the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team, Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon announced today.

Russ Peloquin, who was the Blugolds' head coach for the past two seasons, will take a sabbatical for the 2012-13 season.

"We are excited to have Jon lead the team this season," Kilgallon said. "His experience with the Blugolds over the last five years will help to make a smooth transition."

Ames was an assistant coach for the Blugolds each of the past two years after competing for the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team the previous three seasons. He was a team captain during his senior season (2009-10). Prior to his time at Eau Claire, Ames competed for the UW-Platteville wrestling team in 2006-07.
