DELAVAN, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team moved up two spots from day one to finish in second place out of 13 teams at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational at Delbrook Golf Club.
The Blugolds shot 333 on day one but improved to record 325 on day two to finish the two rounds with 658 strokes. Hope College (Mich.) took first place with 645 strokes.
Two Blugolds finished in the top eight with Emily Stone (Sr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) leading the way with 161 strokes, coming in sixth place. Kate Engler (Sr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) tied for eighth place with 163 strokes.
Winning the tournament, which featured 84 golfers, was Morgan Leep from Hope with 155 strokes, three better than the second-place finisher.
The Blugolds will be off next weekend and will next compete Oct. 3-5 at the WIAC Championship at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa, Wis. The Blugolds won last year's WIAC title, their fourth in the last five years.
