Women's Golf Takes Fourth at Rain-Shortened Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in fourth place out of 10 teams competing at the Wartburg College Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Club. The event was supposed to be two rounds but Sunday's final round was cancelled due to rain.

The Blugolds finished Saturday's round in fourth place with 332 strokes. St. Olaf College (Minn.) won with 312, Wartburg was second with 315 and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) was third with 323.

Five Blugolds tied for 30th of better out of 59 golfers.

Leading the team was Kate Engler (So.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner), who tied for eighth place with 79 strokes (+7).

Molly Erickson from St. Olaf and Wartburg's Samantha Heinen each had low scores of 75 but Erickson took home medalist honors by winning a playoff.

Next weekend, the Blugolds will compete at the Carleton College Invitational at Northfield Golf Club in Northfield, Minn. Golfers will compete both Saturday and Sunday.
