Women's Golf Takes Seventh at Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team finished in seventh place out of 16 teams following two rounds of competition at the Wartburg College Fall Invitational at Centennial Oaks Golf Club.

The Blugolds recorded 653 strokes while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won the event with 634. UW-Stout was second with 641 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) took third with 642.

Kate Engler (So.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) led Eau Claire as she tied for sixth place with a two-day total of 157 strokes on the par-72 course.

Also in the top 30 for the Blugolds were Catherine Wagner (Sr.-Austin, Minn.), who tied for 18th with 160 strokes and Emily Stone (So.-Eden Prairie, Minn.), who finished with 165 to take 26th overall.

UW-Stout's Brit McNett-Emmerich won the tournament with 151 strokes.

Next Sunday and Monday, the Blugolds will compete at the O'Brien National Invitational at Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.
