Spring Senior Spotlight - Softball's Tessa Dachel

Spring Senior Spotlight - Softball's Tessa Dachel

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak forcing the sudden cancelation of the spring sports seasons, the athletic department will be highlighting the senior student-athletes from our spring sports as their careers have been cut short.

Softball's Tessa Dachel (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-Hi)

Softball Highlights:

Four-year player with a career batting average of .233, on-base percentage of .343. Last season the Blugolds earned the program's 12th trip to the NCAA tournament and their first since 2013.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I will be staying in Chippewa Falls to manage a restaurant this summer that I have managed for the last 2 years. I will be applying for full time jobs in the marketing field during the summer and plan to hopefully move out of Wisconsin within the year.

What is your favorite memory with your team?

My favorite memory with the team would have to be when we were in Florida last spring and the girls in my house would always hangout in the living room and play games. We played "what do you meme" and made it into "softball version" where we made up our own captions that related to the team. I've never laughed harder in my life! That was also the night when I had severe sunburn and Ellie Decker rubbed aloe vera on my hot dog legs! Love you Ellie!

Favorite class/professor?

My favorite class would have to be my core Management class. Strategic Management wraps up everything I've learned with business in my 4 years, so I'm glad to put my knowledge in these classes to use. My professor for the class is Brent Opall. He's an awesome professor and makes the class very interactive.

Do you have any advice for your younger teammates or future Blugolds?

The advice I have for the younger teammates and future Blugolds is to be yourself. Being a college athlete is hard work. You will be pushed to your breaking point many times. Stay strong, but know that it's okay to be vulnerable and that there are teammates around you going through the same thing you are. Do what you love and have fun. Don't worry about what others think of you, because 4 years goes by so fast and you don't want to have any regrets when it's all over.

What's the best part about being a Blugold?

The best part about being a Blugold is having amazing teammates and an amazing community to be surrounded by. The love and support that people have for you is tremendous. There's no better feeling than a sense of belonging.
