Spring Senior Spotlight - Softball's Gretchen Arneson

Spring Senior Spotlight - Softball's Gretchen Arneson

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak forcing the sudden cancelation of the spring sports seasons, the athletic department will be highlighting the senior student-athletes from our spring sports as their careers have been cut short.

Softball's Gretchen Arneson (Chippewa Falls, WI/Chi-Hi)

Softball Highlights:

Four-year player with a career batting average of .289, on-base percentage of .403 and owns a .466 slugging percentage after accumulating 232 at bats in 89 games. Arneson also earned All-WIAC Honorable Mention honors in 2018. Last season the Blugolds earned the program's 12th trip to the NCAA tournament and their first since 2013.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduation are to go to grad school to get my masters in Prosthetics and Orthotics.

What is your favorite memory with your team?

Bus rides with [bus driver] Curtie as he always made amazing treats and he and I had a good time together.

Favorite class/professor?

My favorite classes would have been my ASL Classes. Every day was something different and I enjoyed learning about a new culture. I would also like to get my interpreter's license so I can stay around the language.

Do you have any advice for your younger teammates or future Blugolds?

Be in the moment and take in everything around you. Because if you give it your all every day and you are taking it all in then you will have no doubts in your mind when it is your last day.

What's the best part about being a Blugold?

Being able to make my own major and play a sport while getting my education.
