LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – With the UW-Eau Claire men's outdoor track & field team competing in two last chance meets, Tyler Genovese (Sr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) broke two school records in field events in La Crosse on Thursday.
Genovese broke his own school record in the discus throw, finishing in second place with a toss of 53.57 meters (175-9). Last weekend he set the school record in the event with a distance of 52.33 meters (171-8). He also broke the Blugolds' school record in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.07 meters (197-1), finishing in third place. Tony Sigrist (Sr.-Byron, Minn.) previously set the school record of 58.76 meters (192-9) on May 5, 2012.
Also in La Crosse, the Blugolds captured two wins.
The 4x400-meter relay team won with a time of 3:13.41 while Cody Prince (Fr.-Appleton, Wis./North) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.18 seconds.
On Friday, Roger Steen (Fr.-Luck, Wis.) competed at UW-Oshkosh in the shot put and finished sixth with a distance of 15.76 meters (51-8.5).
Next up, the Blugolds will compete in the NCAA Division III Championships May 24-26. Nationals will be contested in Claremont, Calif. The complete selections to the championships will be announced Sunday.
