Women's Track & Field in first on Day 1 of WIAC Championships, Men in third

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's indoor track and field team is in first place after the first day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) while the men's team is in third place.

The Blugold women tallied 86.5 points on the first day of competition while UW-La Crosse is in second with 76.5 points.

Sarah Glidden (Sr. – Greenville, WI/Hortonville) led the way for the Blugolds, winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.34 and the high jump with a jump of 5-4.25.

JoHannah Theisen (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Regis) also turned in a top performance as she won the shot put with a throw of 47-07.25 while Erica Oawster (Jr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) was third (42-8.25).

The distance medley relay team of Emma Drangstveit (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/North), Kelsey Worachek (Sr. – Appleton, WI/Xavier), Sarah Moen (Fr. – Blaine, MN/Centennial) and Lizzy Cisewski (Fr. – Stevens Point, WI/Pacelli) took first with a time of 12:21.17 while Callie Fischer (Sr. – Oneida, WI/Ashwaubenon) was third in the 5000-meter (17:53.80).

On the men's side, Eau Claire's 37 points puts them in third while UW-La Crosse leads the field with 72.5 points.

The distance medley relay team of Patrick Treacy (Jr. – Fall Creek, WI/Eau Claire Memorial), Brandon Christnovich (Jr. – Holmen, WI), Bailey Wilson (So. – New Richmond, WI) and Darin Lau (Eau Claire, Wis./ Immanuel) took first place with a time of 10:12.48 to lead the Blugolds while David Kornack (Sr. – Edgar, WI) was second in the shot put (57-5.50).

Dietrich Schwoerer (So. – McFarland, WI) was fourth in the 400 (50.21) and Dylan Cooper (So. - Holmen, WI) started strong in the heptathlon, winning the high jump (6-2.75) and shot put (44-0.75).
