STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) -The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team got two first-place performances en route to a third-place team finish Saturday at the Eastbay Pointer Invitational, hosted by UW-Stevens Point.
The Blugold men finished with 94 points. UW-Oshkosh won the meet with 115.33 points while UW-La Crosse came in second with 108 points.
Brandon Zarnoth (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./North) took home the only individual win on the afternoon by crossing the line in first-place in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.26 seconds. His teammate, Tony Floyd (Sr.-Whitewater, Wis.) came in right behind him in 8.31 seconds to create a Blugold sweep.
The Blugolds also won the 4x400-meter relay, a team consisting of Cody Prince (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./North), Will LaJeunesse (So.-Belle Plaine, Minn.), Jimmy Paske (Fr.-Minnetonka, Minn.) and Thurgood Dennis (Jr.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) in a time of 3:17.58.
Up next for the Blugolds is the WIAC Championship starting next Friday at UW-Whitewater. Competition is set to get underway Friday at 11:30 a.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.
