MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire men's swimmer Alex Card (Sr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) and men's track member Thurgood Dennis (Jr.-Allouez, Wis./Green Bay Notre Dame) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.

Card led the Blugolds as he was part of four victories, three individually and one as part of a relay team, facing UW-Whitewater for Senior Day on Jan. 25.  He took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.56, first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.36 and first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.74.  Card was also part of the Blugolds' winning 200-yard medley relay team that had a time of 1:38.54.

Competing in the Prairie Wolf Indoor Invitational at Nebraska Wesleyan University on Jan. 24, Dennis recorded two wins.  He took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.74, which leads the nation, while he was part of the Blugolds' winning 4x400-meter relay team that finished with a time of 3:18.59.
