Janssen to lead Men's Tennis program

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Athletics Director Dan Schumacher has announced the hiring of James John Janssen, III as the head coach for the men's tennis program.

Janssen is also the head tennis pro for youth development at the John and Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center.

Prior to working in Eau Claire, Janssen worked as a tennis instructor and was an assistant coach for the girls and boys tennis programs at Mounds View High School in Minnesota where both teams saw top 4 finishes in the state during his time there.

A graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, Janssen competed for the Gusties while earning a bachelor's degree in sociology and anthropology. The Gusties won conference titles each season and Janssen has won several USTA (United States Tennis Association) titles was a USTA national qualifier.

The Edina, Minn. native is also a USTA certified youth tennis instructor and holds a USPTA professional license and Net Generation certification.

The Blugolds will kick off the spring season January 31 with matches against Saint John's (MN) and St. Thomas (MN). Follow the Blugolds all season long on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app from your mobile device.
