EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming & diving team defeated Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) 174-120 at the McPhee Physical Education Center today.
The Blugolds recorded 10 victories on the day.
Alex Card (Sr.-Prior Lake, Minn.) led the team as he won two individual events while he was part of two winning relay teams. He took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.73 and won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.42.
Four others won individual swimming events.
Ryan Young (Fr.-Lakeville, Minn./North) took first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.05 and Ben Epperly (Sr.-Schaumburg, Ill.) won the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 22.75 seconds.
Winning the 100-yard freestyle was Spencer Rose (Sr.-Brookfield, Wis./Central) with a time of 49.38 seconds and Reed Molander (Fr.-Urbandale, Iowa) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.67 seconds.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Young, Card, Molander and Rose won with a time of 3:40.66 and the 200-yard freestyle relay team that featured Epperly, Card, Molander and Rose took first with a time of 1:30.17.
Diving, Shawn Westphal (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./North) won the three-meter with a score of 191.6 and Matt Moylan (So.-Waukesha, Wis./North) won the one-meter event with 211.85 points.
Next Saturday, the Blugolds will host UW-La Crosse at McPhee for Parents Day for a meet beginning at 1 p.m.
