Game one was tight for most of the game, with the score 1-0 in favor of the Eagles until they added seven more runs in the final three innings. The Blugolds had several opportunities to tie up the game in the first six, including advancing two runners into scoring position in the second.

Eau Claire wrapped up the opener with five hits but left six runners on base. Five different batters finished with a hit, while David Janssen (Fr.-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial), Henry Pitsch (Fr.-Madison, WI/West) and Otto Treichel (So.-Madison, WI/West) all reached base on walks.

Tom Ginther (Sr.-Rock Springs, WI/Baraboo) got the start on the mound and went five innings. He recorded six strikeouts and finished without an earned run.

The Blugold offense recovered in the second game, as they scored first in the third inning. Chase Yaeger (Fr.-Black River Falls, WI) scored the first run of the afternoon, reaching base on a walk and then eventually crossing home plate on a wild pitch.

Eau Claire added four more runs an inning later, which began with a walk from Pitsch. RBIs would come from Logan Matson (Jr.-Neillsville, WI), who knocked into two runs, and Janssen.

After La Crosse took the lead in the eighth, the Blugolds went into the final inning down 7-5. Will Jilek got on base and later scored off an RBI single from Nate Witte (Fr.-Woodbury, MN/East Ridge), making it a one-run game. The tying run, Janssen, advanced all the way to third but Eau Claire couldn't knock him in, coming up short in a heartbreaker.

The Blugolds finished with five hits again in game two, again coming from five separate batters. The starting pitcher was Will Mosinski (Fr.-Carlisle, PA) who lasted seven innings and struck out five.

Eau Claire will get another crack against the Eagles this Friday, as they travel to La Crosse. First pitch times are earlier than usual, slated for 1 and 3 PM.
