WINONA, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team, ranked fifth in the nation, had a strong showing as it won the St. Mary's University No Limit Invitational today.
Four Blugolds finished in the top five while seven finished in the top 11. A total of 19 Blugolds finished the 6,000-meter course. As a team, the Blugolds' average finish was 24:07.28, more than 14 seconds better than second-place Winona State University (Minn.).
Alana Jenkins (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) had the Blugolds' best finish as she was second with a time of 23:52.90.
Coming in next in third place was Kacey Rindy (Sr.-Fennimore, Wis.) with a time of 23:58.10 while Shelby Owens (Fr.-Mineral Point, Wis.) was fourth with a time of 24:11.40 and Shaina Weatherhead (So.-New Hope, Minn./Robbinsdale Cooper) was fifth with a time of 24:14.80.
Rounding out the Blugolds' top five was Erica Tiffany (Sr.-North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View), who finished with a time of 24:19.20 in eighth place.
Tomorrow a group of Blugolds will compete at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational.
