Women's Cross Country Wins Tori Neubauer Invite

WEST SALEM, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country took home a first place finish out of 23 teams at the 2011 Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by UW-La Crosse at Maple Grove Golf Course today.

With four runners finishing in the top eight at the invite, the Blugolds combined for 44 points. The University of Minnesota was second with 58 while Nebraska Wesleyan was third with 120 points.

Ashlyn Mauer (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) led the Blugolds by taking fourth place with a time of 22:33.6. Steph Sjostrom (So.-Champlin, Minn./Park) and Madi Sawyer (So.-Champlin, Minn./Park) finished with times of 22:38.8 to take sixth and eighth place, respectively.

Alyssa Sybilrud (Sr.-Savage, Minn/Burnsville) came in next, in eighth place with a time of 22:40.7. The Blugolds' fifth finisher was Lucy Ramquist (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.), who finished in 19th place with a time of 23:13.1.

Next Friday, the Blugolds will host the Lake Wissota Invitational. Action is set to get underway at 4 p.m.
