Women's Cross Country Third at Home Invite

COLFAX, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team finished in third place out of 19 teams at its own Blugold Invitational at Whitetail Golf Course today.

The Blugolds, ranked fifth in the nation, finished with 65 points while the Carleton College (Minn.) took first with 43 points. The University of Minnesota came in second with 54 points.

In a field of 341 runners, the University of Minnesota's Liz Berkholtz, running unattached, took first place with a time of 22:09.8.

The Blugolds had three runners finish in the top 15, led by Alyssa Sybilrud (Sr.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville), who came in with a time of 22:32.6 to finish 10th.

Ashlyn Mauer (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) was 13th with a time of 22:38.6 while Madi Sawyer (So.-Champlin, Minn./Park) came in 15th place overall with a time of 22:46.3.

Steph Sjostrom (Jr.-Champlin, Minn./Park) was Eau Claire's fourth finisher as she came in 23rd place with a time of 23:00.8

Lucy Ramquist (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) rounded out the top five for the Blugolds with a 29th place finish in a time of 23:11.5.

The Blugolds will now take a two-week break before competing at the Tori Neubauer Invitational, hosted by UW-La Crosse, in West Salem on October 15. Race time is set for 11:30 a.m.
