Women's Cross Country Distributes Team Awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team distributed this year's team awards this past weekend at the annual team banquet.

Ashlyn Mauer (Jr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) won the team's most valuable runner award. Competing in six events this season, Mauer was the top Blugold finisher four times. At the NCAA Regional, she had the Blugolds' best time as she took 13th place overall while taking sixth place at the WIAC Championship. At the NCAA Championship, where the Blugolds came in 17th place, she was the team's second highest finisher as she took 113th place. Last season Mauer was named the team's most improved runner.

This season's most improved honors went to Nikki Rendler (So.-Lodi, Wis.), who competed in seven events. She steadily improved throughout the year and ended the season by competing at the WIAC Championship, NCAA Regional and NCAA Championship. A season ago she didn't compete in any of those races.

Lucy Ramquist (Fr.-River Falls, Wis.) was named the most valuable freshman. Ramquist saw action in six races this year and finished the year competing at the NCAA Championship, where she took 144th place. She also was 32nd at the NCAA Regional and 11th at the WIAC Championship.

The Blugold Award went to Teresa Coughlin (Sr.-Coon Rapids, Minn.). She competed in six events this year and had her best finish come at the Blugolds' Lake Wissota Invite where she took fourth place.

Four year letter awards were also presented to Kacey Rindy (Sr.-Fennimore, Wis.) and Alyssa Sybilrud (Sr.-Savage, Minn./Burnsville). Both finished their careers at the NCAA Championship and Sybilrud completed her time with the Blugolds as a two-time All-American.
