DULUTH, Minn. (Blugolds.com) - The 16th-ranked UW-Eau Claire volleyball team made a clean sweep tonight winning 3-0 against both Northland College (Wis.) and the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.).

Eau Claire opened the day's competition with the victory over Northland. The Blugolds swiftly took the three sets, winning the first two 25-20 and 25-18. The team delivered the final blow by winning the third set by another 25-20 margin.

En route to the win, Liz Amici (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.) led the team with nine kills while Amanda Lessner (Sr.-Watertown, Wis.) and Emily Neave (So.-Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) tallied 20 and 13 assists, respectively. Blair Murphy (Sr.-Hermantown, Minn.) was the only player during the first match to record double digit digs with a total of 14. The second set was a closer 25-21 win, but the Blugolds followed it up with a 25-19 victory in the third to earn the match win.

Amici again led the Blugolds with 11 of the Blugolds' 47 kills while Lessner recorded 37 assists. Murphy scored a match-high 18 digs followed by another 10 contributed by Rachel Ver Voort (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Middleton).

The Blugolds now boast a 13-3 season record and have won their last six matches. Next up, Eau Claire will compete in the UW-Whitewater Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The Blugolds will first take on Rockford College (Ill.) at 5 p.m. Friday.
