Three Volleyball Players Mentioned on All-Region Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Blugolds.com) - Three UW-Eau Claire volleyball players have earned recognition being honorably mentioned in this year's American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region team for the Midwest.

The three Blugolds were Liz Amici (Jr.-Whitewater, Wis.), Blair Murphy (Sr.-Hermantown, Minn.) and Rachel Ver Voort (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Middleton). Amici and Ver Voort recently earned All-WIAC honors while Murphy was named to the WIAC All-Defensive team and was also an honorable mention recipient on the All-WIAC team.

Amici led the Blugolds in blocks, recording a total of 151 for an average of 1.22 blocks each set this season. In addition to tallying 298 kills, Amici's .262 hitting percentage was the second highest for Eau Claire and seventh best in the WIAC.

Ver Voort racked up 338 kills and averaged 2.75 each set this season to lead the Blugolds. Ver Voort also scored the 10th highest point average in the WIAC, recording an average of 3.24 points per set. Ver Voort's 37 total service aces also led Eau Claire.

Murphy tallied 603 digs and averaged 4.75 per set for the fifth best total in the WIAC. Murphy also had the 15th highest average of service aces by totaling 33 in 127 sets.
