Women’s Tennis Announces 2014-15 Team Awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's tennis head coach Tom Gillman recently announced the team award winners for the 2014-15 season.

Sarah Henderson (Fr.-Prior Lake, MN) and Madison Rossebo (Sr.-Minnetonka, MN) earned Co-Player of the Year honors.  In her first season as a Blugold Henderson finished the season with an overall singles record of 19-1 going 8-1 at No. 4 singles, 3-0 at No. 5 singles and 6-0 at No. 6 singles.  Henderson also played 10 matches at No. 2 doubles earning a season record of 7-3.

In her final season as a Blugold Rossebo earned an overall singles record of 17-5 going 1-0 at No. 2 singles, 7-2 at No. 3 singles, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and 1-1 at No. 5 singles.  Rossebo teamed up with fellow senior Maddie Johnson (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/South) posting on overall doubles record of 17-8 including a 14-5 showing at No. 1 doubles.  Rossebo also earned the team Coach's Award.

Johnson earned the team's Blugold Award.  It is the second time in her career that Johnson won the Blugold Award first doing so in 2012.  Johnson also won the team Coach's Award in 2014.

Olivia Gallagher (So.-Lodi, WI) earned Team Player honors after receiving the Most Improved award in 2014.  Gallagher posted an overall singles record of 12-3 going 10-2 at No. 6 singles.  Gallagher played one doubles match this season going 0-1 at No. 3 doubles.

Brooke Volpone (Fr.-Monticello, MN) rounded out the team award winners receiving Most Improved honors.

The Blugolds went 14-5 overall this season marking the ninth straight year that the program has posted double-digit dual meet victories.  Eau Claire posted a seven-match winning streak at one point this season and went a perfect 5-0 in home dual meets.
