HILTON HEAD, South Carolina (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team suffered their first loss of their spring break campaign, falling to Elon, 9-0 on Tuesday.
In singles action, Maddie Johnson (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/South), Colleen McCullough (Jr.-Maple Grove, MN/Osseo) and Sarah Henderson (Fr.-Prior Lake, MN) all fell by scores of 6-2, 6-1. Madison Rossebo (Sr.-Minnetonka, MN) lost 6-1, 6-0 while Paige Kuepers (Jr.-Green Bay, WI/Southwest) and Olivia Gallagher (So.-Lodi, WI) were defeated 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively.
The doubles team of Johnson and Rossebo fell by a score of 6-0 while McCullough and Henderson lost 8-2. Renee Nelson (Sr.-Madison, WI/La Follette) and Kueper also were defeated by a score of 8-1.
The Blugolds will be back in action Wednesday as they take on Nebraska Wesleyan and Bethel (KS).
