SARTELL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's tennis started their spring season with a victory, defeating Saint Benedict 6-3 on Saturday.
Maddie Johnson (Sr.-Lakeville, MN/South) earned a victory at number one singles, defeating Daley Ruper 6-2, 1-6, 10-7.
At number three singles, Madison Rossebo (Sr.-Minnetonka, MN) defeated Victoria Beach 6-1, 6-1 while teammate Sarah Henderson (Fr.-Prior Lake, MN) beat Taylor Kraemer 6-3, 6-2 at number four.
Paige Kuepers (Jr.-Green Bay, WI/Southwest) and Olivia Gallagher (So.-Lodi, WI) also earned wins at number five and six singles, winning 6-2, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-7, 10-1, respectively.
Competing at number one doubles, the team of Johnson/Rossebo defeated Beach and Laura Finn 8-4 to round out the 6-3 win for Eau Claire.
The Blugolds will travel to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on Saturday for their spring break trip.
