PLYMOUTH, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team traveled to Lakeland College Saturday for the Muskie Duels.
The Blugolds won their first round match, beating Lakeland 27-7.
Scott Worlund (So. Pittsville WI) and Nathaniel Behnke (So. Bruce, Wis.) won by forfeit at 125 and 141 pounds respectively, while Robert Rocole (Fr. Lakewood, Wis.) won by decision, 5-1 at 157.
Matt Koch (So. Plymout, Minn.) won at 174 by fall at 0:38 and Justin Karkula (Fr. Oshkosh, Wis.) won at 285 by fall at 2:56.
In the second round, the Blugolds faced off against Milwaukee School of Engineering, falling 27-19.
Behnke continued his winning ways, winning by major decision, 12-4.
Rocole also notched his second win, this by technical fall, 17-1 at 5:00, as did Koch, winning by fall at 1:19.
Brandon Stradel (Jr. Denmark, Wis.) added another win for the Blugolds, winning by major decision, 12-1 at 165 pounds.
Their final match of the day was against Chicago, who handed the Blugolds a 41-6 loss.
Both Behnke and Rocole were the lone victors, each claiming victory by decision, 9-4 and 4-1 respectively, to finish their day undefeated.
The Blugolds return to the mat on Saturday, Jan. 17, traveling to Cornell College (Iowa) for the Matmen Invitational.
