Karkula Finishes 4th at WIAC Championship

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Blugolds.com)-- The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team competed at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) wrestling championship hosted by UW-Oshkosh Sunday. While UW-Whitewater captured their fourth consecutive WIAC wrestling title, the Blugolds had one wrestler finish in the top five.

Results

Justin Karkula (So.-Oshkosh, Wis./West) placed fourth overall in the 285 weight class. On the day, Karkula defeated Luke Hoffman (UW-Stevens Point) with a 6-4 decision. Karkula received a second round bye and in the third round, won 6-4 by an injury default against Zach Tooley of UW-La Crosse. In the third place match, Karkula was defeated a 5-2 decision by UW-La Crosse's Cody Endres. 

The Blugolds will have some time off before competing February 28 in the regional tournament.
