Women's Hockey Shutout at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team gave up one goal and was unable to find the back of the net as the Blugolds fell at UW-Stevens Point 1-0 tonight.

Eau Claire led the shot chart 5-4 after one period but neither team would score a goal.

In the second period, the Pointers played strong and outshot Eau Claire 17-4. Stevens Point scored the game's only goal at 7:09 in the second period and it proved to be enough to hand the Blugolds the loss.

The Blugolds again outshot the Pointers 6-4 in the final period but Stevens Point held a 25-15 advantage for the game.

Paige Turner (Fr.-Iron River, Wis./Duluth East) played just under 59 minutes defending the Blugolds' goal and finished the game with 24 saves.

Eau Claire is now 6-9-3 on the season and 5-6-2 in NCHA play while the Pointers improve to 9-6-2 overall and 7-3-2 in the NCHA.

Saturday the Blugolds and Pointers will compete again but this time the game will be played in Eau Claire. Action will get underway at 3 p.m. in Hobbs Ice Center.
