Blugolds Skate to Tie With Tommies

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. (Blugolds.com) — The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie on the road Tuesday night with St. Thomas.

The Tommies (4-4-1) got on the board first late in the first period to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. But the Blugolds (6-6-3) responded just eight seconds into the second period on a goal by Dani Kerr (Sr.-Little Canada, Minn./Roseville).

In the third period, it was the Tommies that broke the tie with a power-play goal at 9:02. But at 15:14, the Blugolds once again tied the game back up on a goal by Sam Knutson (So.-North St. Paul, Minn./North St. Paul).

That was how the game finished up, as neither team was able to break through for the victory in overtime. The Tommies outshot the Blugolds 31-25 in the contest and the Blugolds went 0-for-1 on the power-play.

Mara Stormer
(Sr.-Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) made 29 saves in her second straight start in goal for the Blugolds.

It is alumni weekend this weekend as the Blugolds return home for two games on Friday and Saturday. Both games are set to start at 7 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Center.
